It’s no longer news that the media has been stuffed with more of the downsides of this pandemic than anything else. Even our favorite motivational speakers have managed to convince us that the best time to stress our mental capacity even further is now. Develop a new skill, take several online courses, learn a new language, start a new business, build an empire & in-between all these, magically ignore everything that is going on around you init?
Of course, self-development is essential and if you’re mentally fit enough to do all that without breaking down, I’ll encourage you to go for it! However, there exists a rather realistic group of people who naturally may not be able to seamlessly manage the psychological stress of the pandemic by adapting what society (some motivational speakers) demand. A good argument could be that these things serve as a sort of distraction. If this is your only valid form of distraction, then I put it to you that you are yet to fully unlock the power of relaxation.
Now more than ever, we need to strategically calm our minds by placing the ‘important’ over the ‘urgent’. I’m no psychologist or doctor but it is somewhat evident that at a time like this, our health (physical & mental) and our abilities to manage anxieties are the most important factors to deal with and they should be prioritized.
This is an open call to take a break from the hard-knock lifestyle. Spend more time in prayer and meditation, take a glass of fine wine (or just water), throw a huge Netflix party with family and friends, eat 5-square meals a day, turn off all your alarms and sleep in late; not just because you need it but because you deserve it!
P.S: The goal of this article is not to encourage laziness. You’ll eventually get fed up with the rest-routine if it extends too long anyway. So take a few days off to relax and rejuvenate unapologetically and then bounce back into that self-investment plan your future version would be grateful for.
What are some of your favorite relaxation activities? Please share them in the comment section below because I’ll need some tips for myself too!
Also, let me know what topics you would like me to write about next.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Mind-blowing! Well at my end, of course, we were busy moving to a new house amidst all the chaos. packing and unpacking and doing all the boring stuff.
But, I do like to enjoy a warm bath with some home music, playing COD with friends for hours, occasional baking (now that all the gyms are closed, don’t want to get fat)and being busy helps a lot too. It takes our mind away from all the negativity happening around us now.
I need more stuff from you Friend. Keep writing 🙂
Thank you, Praz!
You’ve got sooo many awesome activities I’m totally gonna try out some of your ideas (I want to bake something today. It’s my first time so wish me luck!)
