Gratitude Series: I’ve Been on the Edge

“If we hadn’t performed the surgery so quickly, you would have probably died” – the doctor said to me as I laid numb in the intensive care unit of a hospital I couldn’t remember visiting. I had arrived in an ambulance, completely unconscious. “Please call my husband and tell him I’m okay” – I replied. Then everything faded out again.

This is my first blog post this year because I’ve been on the edge. Several months ago, I survived an experience that completely turned my life around. One day, I’ll be able to tell the full story.

While I’ve had several “why me?” moments, I’m finally coming to the realization that I’m one of the lucky ones to actually be alive, to be able to write and eat and sleep and do all the things I used to do and so much more. For that, I’m truly grateful.

This series is plainly about gratitude. I’m normally one to count my blessings but sometimes, unfortunate events cause us to forget all the miracles that God works for us even in the valleys.

This song by elevation worship has been my anthem for the last few months and I would like to share it with you too.

For the rest of this year, I invite you to share a story with me, something you’re truly grateful for. Your miracle, no matter how small or big you think it is, and I’ll feature it in this series.

It’s so easy to lose track of our blessings when something goes wrong. This series is to remind you and (me) to focus on the good stuff. I hope you find it helpful and I really hope you participate.
